Northshire Bookstore Announces July Events

Throughout the month of July, Northshire Bookstore will host public events in Saratoga Springs. Except where otherwise noted, all events are free and open to the public, and will take place at Northshire Bookstore Saratoga, 424 Broadway.

Saturday, July 1, 3:00-4:00 pm – Signing Only
John Ostwald – War Sacrifice and Coming Home

For years, the author has worked with Soldier’s Heart, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to transform the emotional, moral, and spiritual wounds that often result from war and military service. A percent of the proceeds from the sale of this work benefit Soldier’s Heart. Please note that this is a signing only. There will be no formal author presentation.

Scholastic Summer Reading Road Trip at the Saratoga Springs Public Library – 49 Henry Street
Join us for a “pop-up” reading festival co-presented by Northshire Bookstore, the Saratoga Springs Public Library and Scholastic Books!  At this reading road trip stop, kids and families will enjoy a fun afternoon of reading activities including:
• An author visit and book signing with Adele Griffin, Sandra Magsamen, and Tod Olson
• An activity station filled with reading activities
• Giveaway tables and a prize wheel
• Costume characters including: Clifford the Big Red Dog® and Geronimo Stilton

Join us for a special preview of the 12th annual ITV Fest in Manchester Center, VT! We’ll screen some of the greatest hits of independent television as presented at the 2016 festival, and hear from festival organizer Philip Gilpin.

Join fellow Pokemon Trainers at Northshire Bookstore’s first Pokemon Trading night! Bring your cards for an evening of fair trading and test your knowledge with some Pokemon trivia for a chance to win cards! Children of all ages welcome.

Enjoy a special story time with picture book author Heather Preusser, as she shares her new book “A Symphony of Cowbells.” Petra just loves spring in Gimmelwald. Each season she and her family lead their prize dairy cows into the pastures to graze and each cow wears her own jingling, jangling, clanging bell. What a symphony!

An afternoon with award-winning best-selling children’s graphic novelist Arthur Yorinks, as he talks about and signs his new book. Mickey isn’t quite like his brothers and sisters. They’re all stronger, faster, and have a much better sense of smell. That’s because his “brothers and sisters” are dogs: bloodhounds, to be exact.
